Plan for La Puente

Economic Revitalization through Redevelopment

Councilman Lujan has been a staunch advocate of the economics revitalization of La Puente. His attention has focused primarily on the redevelopment effort aimed at modernizing, beautifying, and attracting new business into La Puente. As Vice Chair and Boardmember of the La Puente Redevelopment Agency, Lujan played a significant role in establishing the city's first ever redevelopment plan. This was an historic event for the community because it was city's first ever redevelopment plan since it's incorporation in 1956.

Redevelopment is one of the most effective ways to breathe new life into areas plagued by troubled social, physical, environmental or economic conditions. All these elements act as barriers to new investment by private businesses and investors. Through redevelopment, a project area will receive focused attention and financial investment to reverse the trend toward decay and decline. Redevelopment also helps create jobs, revitalizes the business climate, rehabilitates and adds to the housing stock, and gains active participation and investment by citizens.

Councilman Lujan's plan for economic revitilization in La Puente includes redevelopment as a key component. "Through the process of redevelopment, we plan to revitalize our local economy, beautify our community, and bring much needed tax revenues. Over the next few years, many aging and delapitated areas will be modernized as we attract quality places to shop, eat, work, and play. This effort is long overdue in our community and I am extremely proud to be part of it."
